4 DIY Home Maintenance Tasks That’ll Save You Money

Taking good care of your home keeps its value up and reduces the chance that you’ll have to call a repair company. There are several tasks that you can tackle yourself to maintain your property, which will pay off when it’s time to sell.
These are four DIY home maintenance projects to put on your to do list:
  • Toilets: Being able to fix minor issues with your toilets means you won’t have to call a plumber. You might also save money on your water bill if you can detect and handle leaks promptly. All you need is a plunger and drain snake to fix most problems, like a clogged toilet.
  • Caulking: Use caulk to seal up bathtubs, sinks and toilets, in order to prevent water from getting in and damaging your bathroom. Seal up windows and doors with caulk to stop wind from entering your home and causing drafts. Doing so can help lower your energy bills.
  • Painting: Instead of hiring a professional painting company, do this project yourself. If you know how to paint, you just have to buy paint, a tarp and tools and set aside enough time to get it done. Painting is one of the easiest DIY home maintenance projects.
  • Air systems: Change the filters in your air conditioning system and furnace on a regular basis to help them run more efficiently and improve the air quality in your home. You should also clean the grates and air ducts to keep your furnace and air conditioning system in good condition.
