Choose Energy Star Appliances for Your New Home and Save Money

Owning a home comes with quite a few expenses that you’ll be responsible for paying each month. If you’re trying to keep these expenses as low as possible, focus on your utility bills. With Energy Star appliances, you can save a considerable amount of money on your gas, electric and water bills.
When it comes to energy conservation, Energy Star appliances are the way to go. These appliances, which include stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers and HVAC systems, earn this label if they use considerably less energy than more traditional appliances. All you have to do is look for the Energy Star label on any products you’re thinking of buying. When you have these appliances in your home, you’ll end up spending less money on heating and cooling costs and the costs associated with running appliances like dishwashers and dryers. You might even qualify for tax credits, reducing your tax bill. Just keep in mind that not all Energy Star appliances are part of the tax credits program. You can save even more money by taking additional energy conservation steps, such as keeping the thermostat higher in summer and lower in winter and only running your dishwasher when it’s full.
